One of the upcoming television series for Disney+, that was announced at the recent Star Wars Celebration, was the animated Tales of the Jedi series. Each episodes will be centered around the Jedi from the Prequel Trilogy, getting to know what these great masters were like during the time of the Republic. The timeframe for each episode is all over the place as some characters vary in age from episode to episode.

One character however is a fan favorite from the Prequel Era, one that has not been seen since 1999’s The Phantom Menace. That being Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi mentor of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the one who discovered Anakin Skywalker.

But that’s not all. The character’s original actor, Liam Neeson, has been confirmed to be returning to voice the character in one episode featuring him. Also one episode will feature a younger Qui-Gon that will be voiced by Liam’s son, Micheál Richardson. This version will appear as Count Dooku’s Padawan learner.

With Neeson returning to voice his iconic character perhaps we may see other Prequel/Clone Wars alumni return to voice their characters. Perhaps even a certain Jedi Master with a Purple Lightsaber.

Director Dave Filoni also went into the writing process for the upcoming series:

It’s thrilling, I gotta tell you. It’s something you imagine doing for a long time. And then it’s kind of startling when you’re sitting there, and now you have to do it. I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved. Years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy like Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It’s a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you’re doing.

Are you excited to see Qui-Gon Jinn Return
