LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation Is A Commercial For The Galactic Starcruiser Hotel

Disney+ is going to have a Star Wars special next month called ‘LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation.’ Now the LEGO shows are hit and miss but usually pretty good. This time we have the Disney trilogy cast, because of course we do, heading out for a bit of a vacation.

It opens with them being welcomed to the Halcyon. Immediately it’s a commercial for the Galactic Starcruiser hotel, which is called the Halcyon. I hope this show is not just shots focusing on the dining area, rooms, bridge event, lightsaber training, etc. What is this? The 1980’s and 1990’s?

Lando is a hologram and the “newly appointed ambassador of the Chandrila Star Line.

At one point Finn pulls out the data pad they give you and says “Just look at all these activities.” Then he passed it to Poe and says about how much he loves activities to which Poe starts naming all the activities offered at the Galactic Starcruiser hotel.

The write-up for the show says:

LEGO® Star Wars Summer Vacation,” which is set shortly after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” features the voices of “Weird Al” Yankovic, Yvette Nicole Brown, Kelly Marie Tran, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and returning cast members from previous “LEGO Star Wars” specials, and includes “Weird Al’s” new original song, Scarif Beach Party.

At least we get Billy De Williams and Anthony Daniels.

I don’t think using the show as a commercial for their hotel was the right thing to do. It might turn people off ahead of it’s release.

Here are some of the comments on the video:

(It’s mostly positive though. People love the LEGO specials. However, there are a lot of comments pointing out the obvious commercial too.)

Ethan Ridener (425 up votes)  “I feel as if this is just one big commercial for the Galactic Star Cruiser hotel 😂

100 subs for no reason – “Lego star wars is my childhood. Always look forward to the holiday specials

SlashNRap -“rose got more dialog in this than rise of skywalker

Kush Garg – “I’m still excited to see this LEGO Star Wars summer special in less than two weeks.

Michael Carney – “Are…. Are they literally advertising for the new Star Wars hotel at Disney World?

Grievous The Memer-Like that Finn seems to be getting more of a focus in this

(I agree but they keep making him goofier. Kind of what they do with Luke Skywalker.)

In response to Grievous the Memer Wolves ay we said “But not in China
(Agreed.)

Phil Bertson – “Love all the Lego Star Wars specials! Just fun little adventures for the fans.”

Creedo The Gamer – “Just look at all these activities” They aren’t even trying to disguise the fact it’s an ad lol

CR– “Corporate Synergy at its worst.

Yellow Prime – “Lol people complaining of cross-promotion within a TOY-based spin-off cartoon. Spoiler, all those cartoons in the 80’s that are looked upon with beloved nostalgia were to drive toy and merchandise sales.

Yes this thought crossed my mind as well. But in recent years that idea has been vilified as somehow “less than” and somehow any show that does this isn’t a good one. Current year, it’s frowned upon. Just ask Twitter.

Joshua Hale – “Wow. Just an AD for their failed theme cruise.

William Crowell – “this is the biggest corporate scam ive seen in a while. what a way to trick kids into begging their parents to take them to 5k hotel. it’s literally a commercial 😂

Dave Taylor – “Is the Hotel doing so poorly that they need a Lego commercial? 🤨 Still gonna watch ☺️”

To answer your question Dave. Yes.

No one is going to watch this and run out to book a $4,800-$6,000 44 hour stay after watching this cartoon. Especially since it’s so obvious what they are trying to do.

Disney has a big problem on it’s hands with the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel. For many it’s too expensive. For others it’s a one-and-done deal.

Just yesterday I was checking availability and August still has availability while September-December has almost full availability!  Even July has availability. Not good.

Hopefully that is just a gag at the beginning of the show and the rest is fun and fresh and not a commercial. At least I hope so.

The new ‘LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation” show will air on August 5 on Disney+.
