Cara Dune is apparently included in an upcoming LEGO Star Wars set, fans were a bit perplexed. Actress Gina Carano was fired by Lucasfilm earlier this year, and it seemed as if all toys based on her character Cara Dune were immediately cancelled.

“The LEGO Minifigure is a representation of the character, not the actress,” tweeted LEGO Ideas Design Manager Samuel Johnson.

Johnson popped up in a Twitter thread on the Brick Fanatics Twitter account to clarify the situation with Cara Dune being included in an upcoming LEGO set based on The Mandalorian.

The LEGO Star Wars set in question is 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser, which includes the exact same minifigure of Cara Dune that was included in the 75254 AT-ST Raider set. Cara Dune’s inclusion was leaked in a Japanese consumer catalogue, which has since been deleted.

It would seem as though maybe Lucasfilm is starting to acknowledge that Cara Dune is still an incredibly popular Star Wars character, despite the controversy surrounding Gina Carano’s firing.

In the early days immediately after her termination, Lucasfilm seemed to be wiping every trace of Gina Carano and Cara Dune from existence. Beyond cancelling her Hasbro action figures, Cara Dune was excised from a promotional poster and Carano’s appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls was temporarily pulled. The planned Cara Dune spinoff series, Rangers of the New Republic, is seemingly in limbo.

While it’s still fairly unlikely that Disney will welcome Carano back with open arms anytime soon, the company doesn’t seem as adverse to promoting Carano and the character of Cara Dune as they were earlier this year.

Gina Carano was being pushed for Emmy consideration just a few weeks ago, and Cara Dune’s inclusion in this upcoming LEGO set seems to indicate that Disney is still okay with making money off of a popular character, despite the controversy.
