Keven Feige Wanted The Original Six Avengers To Die In Endgame

Marvel’s 2019 film Avengers: Endgame was the end of an era for the MCU. What began in 2008 concluded in an epic battle to save the universe from the “Mad Titan” Thanos. In 2012 we saw the first Avengers film that gave us one of the biggest movie crossovers of the time.

Seeing Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Thor, alongside Black Widow and Hawkeye, join forces and battle Loki was definitely a sight to behold. Hard to believe that would be overshadowed by future crossovers.

When we saw both Black Widow and Iron Man parish in Endgame many fans were devastated. We had spent over a decade with these great characters and now they were gone. But it turns out it could have been worse.

Apparently well known Marvel producer Keven Feige wanted the original six members of the super hero team to die. This was revealed by director Joe Russo when he and his brother Anthony were on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast. He said:

There were lots of rumors swirling about who was gonna die. Kevin did actually pitch, at one point, taking all the OGs off the board. We thought it was way too aggressive and that the audience wouldn’t be able to process it. And that, in fact, picking one or two characters to make sacrifices throughout the movie might give you moments throughout the film where the action could stop and you could have emotional catharsis and then continue with the narrative.

It sounds like Kevin wanted to make Tony’s vision from Avengers: Age of Ultron to come true.

Had this actually have happened in the film I’m pretty sure there would have been even more sadness/anger. Wiping the entire slate clean isn’t what they would have wanted.

With Phase 4 almost over and the plans for Phase 5 and Phase 6 revealed interest in the MCU hasn’t been as high ever since the OGs have either been killed off or retired. So either way we may still be in the same position as we are now. The only difference being we would’t have had Thor: Love & Thunder, the Hawkeye show and the upcoming She-Hulk show.

What do you think? How would you have felt had all 6 OG Avengers been killed off in Endgame?
