Johnny Depp’s Agent Indicates a $22.5 Million Loss When Actor Was Removed From Pirates 6 Film

The Johnny Depp / Amber Heard trial continues and yesterday we finally got to hear exactly how much Mr. Depp allegedly lost when Disney pulled him from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ film over accusations published in an op-ed piece from his ex-wife Amber Heard.

According to Depp’s agent, Jack Whigham, who represented the actor at Creative Arts Agency and Range Media Partners, the actor was to receive $22.5 million to appear in the 6th ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film. Whigham was at the dinner meeting when it was being discussed.

Mr. Whigham also testified that the op-ed article that appeared in the Washington Post on December 2018 caused “catastrophic” harm to Mr. Depp’s career and indicated that it caused the actor trouble getting work stating:

After the op-ed it was impossible to get him a studio film.

It was a first-person account coming from the victim,” he said. “It became a death-knell catastrophic thing for Mr. Depp in the Hollywood community.

Meanwhile Ms. Heard, who has also had accusations leveled against her by Depp, continued to work seemingly unhindered. Depp is suing for $50 million saying that her claims ruined his career.

While it is true he still had some rolls they were in small films for significantly less money after studios like Disney and Warner Bros. dropped him from tent pole franchises like ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts.’

Amber Heard has not taken the stand to offer her evidence, but already she fired her crisis PR team and was called out by make-up company Milani over her claims of their not yet released make-up palette specifically being used to cover her signs of abuse from Mr. Depp.

At this point the public at large is siding more and more with Mr. Depp. Currently a Change.org petition to remove Amber Heard from ‘Aquaman 2’ is sitting at almost 3.3 million signatures.

If nothing else this trial is highlighting a major flaw in our collective consciousness where men are thought to be abusers but not victims of abuse. The argument is that Hollywood punished Mr. Depp and sided with Ms. Heard based on her accusations, but when accusations came out against her she was not treated the same way as her ex-husband.

Disney has stated they will continue with Pirates of the Caribbean in a female-led film starring Margo Robbi. Frankly I do not think that is going to perform very well for a number of reasons. It’s also not a good look for Disney right now when they are already facing a number of PR issues and their stock is tanking.
