As we get closer and closer to the release of the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange and the Mulitiverse of Madness’ we have been hearing more and more rumors, some sounding credible and some sounding way out there. There have been rumors about Ben Affleck being contacted to play a multiverse Daredevil. There have been rumors about Tom Cruise playing another Iron Man in the upcoming movie. Now we have a rumor coming from the Illuminerdi saying that John Krasinski will be playing Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic in the film.
The Fantastic Four is something that many fans have been waiting for. When Disney acquired Fox they got the rights back for using The Fantastic Four and X-Men in films. It’s only been a matter of time until they brought the incredibly popular characters into the MCU, and many fans have been pushing for John Krasinski to be cast as Reed Richards.
Now it seems that Krasinski may indeed be playing Mister Fantastic in the upcoming Doctor Strange film. It’s been speculated for awhile that the Illuminati would be appearing in the upcoming movie, and Doctor Strange and Mister Fantastic were both part of that group. It could stand to reason they would bring the character in.
According to the Illuminerdi:
“From what we’ve heard, it sounds like John Krasinski may have filmed scenes as Mr. Fantastic for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Now, if this turns out to be true it would be a huge win for fans that have fan cast Krasinski as the leader of the Fantastic Four for years. Interestingly it sounds like Krasinski could be playing a variant version of Mr. Fantastic from another universe. Mr. Fantastic was one of the members of the Illuminati in Marvel comics.”
The only downside here is that he would be a variant version of the character and not the MCU’s main version, if this report is true.
Personally I’m hoping that the rumor of Karsinski playing Richards is true and it’s the version that will be used in future Fantastic 4 appearances. But for now it’s just another rumor.
The movie is set to come out on May 4, 2022, and we can all find out then. Unless they push it back over COVID.
