Indiana Jones 5 Film Has Been Delayed Yet Again

Disney’s ‘Indiana Jones’ film has faced yet another setback, it’s actually being delayed again, by almost a year.  So far the film has faced injury, illness, and filming delays, and frankly it seems like the film itself is cursed.

Now it has been announced that the film will be delayed a whole year from July 29, 2022; to June 30, 2023.

No real reason has been given for yet another delay, but Disney just shifted all their Marvel films back as well.

Maybe it’s because of the new contract negotiations for the IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) allowing them more rest time and higher pay. Now it may take longer to finish movies and shows.

Or perhaps they are expecting issues with the box office and that is why they are pushing all these films back? Could it be something to do with China? Who knows.

Now the upcoming  Marvel releases are being pushed back two to five months for each film, but it’s not the year long delay that ‘Indiana Jones’ is seeing.

The film itself is facing a lot of fan concern as of late.

There have been a lot of rumors about the plot of the film and many sites have reported that the plot would feature time travel.

But there were concerning rumors (again RUMORS) coming from YouTuber Doomcock that indicated the film could also undo Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones and making room for Phoebe Waller-Bridge to be the new star of the franchise. Her character is rumored to even take the name “Indiana Jones” like Rey Skywalker.

Even though they were simply rumors, fans did NOT react well.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has just killed off James Bond in the last film “No Time To Die.” Fans have not reacted well. If they went and made her the new Doctor Jones, while undoing the original, well Disney might as well just burn money.

I think fans understand that Harrison Ford is 79 years old and he isn’t likely to do any more Indy films, so passing the torch or doing movies with a younger Indiana Jones character were the best two options. Honestly I wouldn’t have made any more films, but Disney paid for Lucasfilm and they are going to milk those franchises harder than the guests at the parks.

The longer delay is likely due to the theatrical rescheduling Disney just did on many of their tent pole films, but I do wonder if they are going to try to make changes if the leaks are true. The fan reaction has not been great and if true Disney might want to rethink it or they could end up with another ‘Star Wars’ plummet on their hands.

No matter what the reason is, the huge shift across Marvel and Lucasfilm is definitely intriguing.
