Imagineering Blueprints for Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Are On eBay

Over the years, eBay has seen quite a few rare Disney oddities listed for sale. Bits and pieces from rides, or the random costume or two. What really piques my interest, though, are blueprints.

I come from a construction background. Before AutoCAD came along, hand-drawn blueprints just looked great. That is if the draftsman had pride in their work. Even a basic house design could have something aesthetically pleasing about it.

That makes me fascinated by the inner workings of the Imagineers’ designs. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea. There is a great deal of artistry that goes into older Disney blueprints. They make great display pieces.

eBay seller bunnyknit2 has many listings up right now that include blueprints for the following:

  • Alien Encounter
  • Disneyland Train Station
  • Dreamfinder’s Airship
  • Fantasy Land Castle
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • 20,000 Leagues
  • Sleeping Beauty’s Castle
  • Toon Town
  • Goofy’s Barnstormer
  • The Riverboat
  • Splash Mountain
  • Pleasure Island
  • Frontierland
  • The Mark Twain Steamboat
  • The Mike Fink Keel Boats
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Liberty Square

That’s only some of what is currently available for purchase. There are also replicas of artists’ sketches too. Personally, I’d be interested in the plans for Dreamfinder’s airship.

I want to recreate it as a 3D model for printing. It’s doubtful we’ll ever see him and Figment return to Epcot in full force anytime soon. That also makes me want to find the blueprints for the long-forgotten Questor simulator ride that used to be at Busch Gardens Tampa.

Which pieces of Disney Park’s past would you like to own? The layout of Star Tours? Buzzy, perhaps? Or maybe you know someone who has Buzzy. If you do, maybe you should turn that person in. We miss Buzzy. Do the right thing. Be a narc. It’s OK. I won’t judge you.
