Soon to join the new Obi-Wan figure based on his Disney+ series is another Hot Toys rendition of Darth Vader. This version of the Sith Lord is battle-damaged. His chest box is broken, and his mask has been cracked open, revealing the disfigured Anakin Skywalker inside.

Sideshow Collectibles has just launched pre-orders for the Special Edition Darth Vader Hot Toys figure. Priced at $295, Vader has many LED functions on his belt and in his lightsaber. The Sideshow Exclusive toy also comes with a “holoprojector” and projection of the Grand Inquisitor. Unfortunately, this roughed-up former Jedi won’t arrive until October 2023 and March 2024.

After being restored by Darth Sidious following his brutal defeat by Obi-Wan Kenobi on the fiery lava-world Mustafar, Darth Vader is fully consumed by the dark side of the Force, leading the Empire’s eradication of the Jedi Order and hunting down his former master…

Vader’s helmet getting severely damaged, exposing Anakin’s scarred visage beneath, is nothing new. A few years ago, it happened in Rebels during his duel with Ahsoka. Long before that, Vader went totally unmasked during the final boss fight in The Force Unleashed. In the grand scheme, it takes away from the glimpse we get in The Empire Strikes Back and Anakin’s redemption during the second Death Star’s destruction. Then again, this is Disney, and it’ll do anything if it means the company can squeeze new merchandise out.
