Hocus Pocus, released in 1993, has become a Halloween tradition and cult classic for many fans. Disney has been trying to bring it back for awhile now, and we now know that a second film starring the original Sanderson sister actresses, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, will be coming soon.

Many are speculating what a 2nd film could look like, what the story could be and who could be in it.  Now we have some rumors coming from the Illuminerdy that may or may not be true, but it’s definitely something interesting to discuss.

What are the rumors?

According to the Illuminerdy there will be a new high school lead for the new film named Becca who wants to be a witch herself.  He and her friend Izzy mistakenly summon the Sanderson Sisters.

Here’s what they said:

“According to our sources, the new lead character in Hocus Pocus 2 will be a high school aged girl named “Becca”. A loner without many friends and a stepmother she hates, Becca is an aspiring witch who manages to get her hands on a new dark flame candle at the town’s magic shop located in the Sanderson Sisters old cottage. Along with classmate, “Izzy” a confident oddball, Becca mistakenly summons the Sanderson Sisters on Halloween night leading to chaos in the town as the girls race to find a way to stop the witches who still seek youth and immortality.”

There are a couple of other potential characters rumored to be in the film, and a magic shop, which could play into tricking the witches like Max Dennison did with the lighter and headlights in the first film.

“And it looks like the sisters will not only come across Becca and Izzy, but “Giles” the owner of the magic shop in their former home, “Sam” a classmate of the girls and magician who works at Giles’ magic shoppe who also has a crush on Becca, and Becca’s kind and cheerful stepmother “Luann” who is an outsider in her own right.”

Who else from the original cast could be returning?

Right now the only person, aside from the Sanderson Sisters actresses, rumored to be possibly involved in the next film is Thora Birch, who played Dani Dennison.

Personally, I would like to see some of the other characters return or that they make sure to tie it to the original film. But we shall see what happens.

As of now, filming is set to begin this fall. It is being written Jen D’Angelo, and it will be directed by Anne Fletcher.

‘Hocus Pocus 2’ is set to release for fall of 2022.

Again this is all rumor and speculation so we can only take it with a grain of salt, but it’s fun to speculate about what we could get with out next adventure with the Sanderson sisters.
