The often-overlooked full-service restaurant Confisco’s Grille, at Islands of Adventure, extends some unique meal options. However, many guests simply walk past this place. In their race to reach the Wizarding World and/or Jurassic Park, people breeze by this place located in Port of Entry of Islands of Adventure. The menu has experienced many changes through the years. Currently, the menu reflects a streamlining making it simpler.

Confisco’s Grille added more handheld type sandwiches to their menu. Of course, several of these sandwiches should not be considered insignificant. One example shines as the Hearthstone baked Chicken Sandwich. This hearty, but light, sandwich offers some solid flavors. The menu description reads mozzarella cheese, Roma tomatoes, leaf lettuce, basil aioli, (and) aged balsamic. The contents are presented within focaccia baked in the wood oven. Universal bakes this bread on property. The sandwich comes with fries for $15.95.

So how is this sandwich and fries? First, the fries here rate as average. They taste fine but nothing special. If looking for great fries, try somewhere else.

However, the sandwich offers a taste adventure. Also, the reasonable chicken portion is covered in mozzarella cheese. The tomatoes and cheese enhance the sandwich after going thru the baking process. The focaccia bread provides a solid base for all the toppings and aioli. The aged balsamic and basil aioli add a flavoring to the sandwich not commonly found.

In fairness, some guests complain about the texture of the bread being too hard. They speak of the edges of the bread being tough to eat taking away form enjoyment of sandwich. However, most guests comment on the softness and quality of the bread.

Yes, there are numerous flavors going on within this sandwich. I can envision certain guests who dislike basil or balsamic flavors finding this sandwich to be a waste of time. Still, for theme park value, this sandwich deserves a look. With places like Bread Box on property, stopping at Confisco’s Grill for a sandwich might not be a priority for me. However, if someone in your group wants the Ahi Tuna Nachos, you might order this to enjoy a meal with them. In simple terms, I view this sandwich possessing good value. At the very least, you will see buying this sandwich as a good value for full-service dining at Universal Orlando.
