I was pretty sure that the Black Series Rancor figure would have easily met its goal the same way the Proton Pack did. Well, there are only 21 days left for the project to gain almost 4,000 more backers. Hasbro, as of today, has revealed two tiers that will be unlocked if, and only if, the backer goal is met that vastly exceeded.
Tier #1 unlocks a Black Series Gamorrean Guard for the Rancor to snack on. That is if this project gets up to 11,000 backers. Unfortunately, it currently only has 5,102. The second tier comes if the project nets 13,500 pre-orders. That tier gives us a cardboard backdrop (meh) and a collection of bones. If you look closely, you’ll see that one skull belonged to the lovely Oola, who tragically met her demise after spurning Jabba’s gross advances.
Burly and brutish, the Gamorrean Guard was one of Jabba the Hutt’s™ favorite enforcers. Help us bring this character out of the shadows of the underworld and onto a nostalgic Kenner-inspired Power of the Force cardback with a Special Collectors Coin. An exclusive packaging execution that can only be found in this HasLab issue.
We’ve also included a variety of skulls from different species – a Tauntaun™ skull, a Gamorrean Guard skull, a human skull, a male Twi’lek skull, and a female Twi’lek skull – as well as several ribcages. You will also receive a Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Rancor dungeon scene-inspired cardboard background that has all your favorite details from that iconic scene, like the Rancor pit door, the trap door, the grating in the ceiling, and even the door Luke attempts to escape through.
What are your thoughts on this crowdfunding project? What would Hasbro have to offer on top of the monster to get your attention and $349.99? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
