Today is the beginning of the optional outdoor mask mandate and seemingly the end of temperature checks too. Seeing the images I was surprisingly emotional.
Guests are coming to the Walt Disney World parks today and some are wearing masks and some are not because when you are outdoors masks are now optional.
Social media has images of guests coming into the parks and it feels a bit more normal:
For some reason it’s making me cry. It’s a relief to see something that looks more like what we know.

We’ve seen a lot of managers having huddles with Cast Members. The short notice on the policy change has really thrown a wrench into operations today. Everyone should be extra nice to CMs today, they can use some encouragement. pic.twitter.com/3RYgEziUqp

You MUST wear your mask indoors and in attraction queues.
Disney seems to be giving out masks to those that misplaced theirs (or didn’t bring them because they didn’t actually understand the new rules.)

Please keep in mind that you are still required to wear masks in some situations.
It’s been 10 months since the parks reopened and about 14 months since the last time we saw guests walking around mask-less. Eventually we will go back to normal, but I have a feeling a lot of things that are different at the parks will stay different moving forward.
