I’m so happy to post that Give Kids the World Village has announced their reopening date of January 17, 2021.
We are thrilled to announce that nearly 10 months from the day that we said goodbye to our last wish family in March, we will be getting back to our mission of spreading joy and creating the happiness that inspires hope for critically ill children and their families by reopening our beloved Village beginning on January 17, 2021.
They also posted a video on Youtube:
Pamela Landwirth, President and CEO of Give Kids the World Village said that each month they have had about 700 wishes that were postponed and for some of the kids they might not have time to wait.
Doctors from Nemours Children’s Hospital have come together to help Give Kids the World Village meet the protocols needed to safely open during the pandemic. Disney also helped them with advice and their experience to ensure the safety of families.
Here are the safety protocols they are enforcing:
Masks, Social Distancing, Handwashing, Temperature Checks and Frequent Cleaning will be used to keep families safe.
Something they mentioned a couple of times in the video is that some kids don’t have as much time as others. This is something that has weighed heavily on my heart. I have been wondering about the kids that might not have gotten their “wish” because of the virus and I just hope that they still have the time left to do so. It really does matter.
It’s fantastic to hear that they are reopening next month!
