Rumors are swirling that there is indeed a scrapped “George Lucas Cut” of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and it included a scene that sees Hayden Christensen return as the ghost of Anakin Skywalker, a tearful “Force reunion” of Han, Luke and Leia and more.

According to a YouTuber known as Doomcock, who has been correct with his Star Wars rumors in the past, there does exist at least a rough cut of what could be called a “George Lucas Cut” of Star Wars Episode IX.

Lucas was rumored to have been called in at the eleventh hour to help salvage the movie, which was described by insiders as a “disaster” that required multiple reshoots.

According to Doomcock, the “George Lucas Cut” was shelved by Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, despite it testing better than the theatrical cut.

Scenes that would have allegedly appeared in the film included Han, Luke and Leia reuniting onscreen one last time to save Ben Solo. Another rumored scene was one of Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker, appearing as a Force ghost to Rey during a moment of uncertainty.

Speaking of Christensen, the rumor mill is firing up again on social media regarding his involvement in the upcoming Obi-Wan series for Disney Plus.

The rumor, which first started circulating earlier this year on LRM and other sites, said Christen would reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. But the amount of involvement seems to be up for debate.

The show is planned to take place in between the Prequel and Original Trilogy, when Anakin is, well, Darth Vader. But through the use of dream sequences or perhaps even flashbacks, Anakin could definitely continue to be a part of Obi-Wan’s journey.

The weird part, however, is that LRM specifically labels Anakin Skywalker as a “regular” role in the new series. If that does turn out to be true, just how much Anakin should we expect to see?

Would Skywalker return in flashbacks? Hayden Christensen is almost 40 years old now, so unless they use some of Disney’s de-aging technology, it’s unlikely.

Could he be playing an unmasked Darth Vader, then? That would seem to be more likely… if the rumor is even true.

And again, all of these are rumors.

However, Disney does seem pretty directionless with Star Wars right now, and with the upcoming “Snyder Cut” of Justice League being enthusiastically received by many fans on social media, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that we could see another cut of the critically derided The Rise of Skywalker on Disney Plus someday.

But I wouldn’t hold your breath.
