The Christmas Season is a wonderful time of year. A great opportunity to spend time with family. And what better way to spend time then to watch Christmas movies together. But instead of the usual Disney Christmas films like The Nightmare Before Christmas or The Santa Clause, here are five other Disney Christmas films that might be worth watching this Holiday Season.

‘Twas the Night (2001)

A Disney Channel original movie that sees Nick Wrigley (Bryan Cranston), a bum who steals and scams, visit his brother’s family while he hides from people he owes money to. But when Santa comes down the chimney he gets knocked unconscious. Nick and his nephew Danny take Santa’s magic orb, that can shrink things down to the size of a marble and freeze time, and the two take Santa’s sleigh and go joyriding to other houses. Danny notices that Nick is stealing and leaves, making him realize he needs to clean up his act. In the end they return Santa’s orb and save Christmas from being hijacked. Santa also sees that Naughty & Nice isn’t so Black & White after all. It’s a fun film with a good moral. You also get to see a fun and sarcastic Bryan Cranston. The film is currently available on Disney Plus.

Santa Who? (2000)

A made-for-tv movie Starring Leslie Neilesen as an overworked Santa who thinks children don’t care as much about Christmas anymore. One night while flying he falls out of his sleigh and hits his head on the car of a news reporter and looses his memory. The film follows the reporter, Steven, as he uses the opportunity to make a story for his news broadcast as he doesn’t believe in Santa. Steven also struggles to get along his his girlfriend’s son, who believes in Santa and tries to tell Steven that he is Santa. In the end it’s a decently made film with Leslie Nelsen stealing the show as an absent minded Santa with no memory. Despite being made by Disney-ABC Television (Then known as Buena Vista Television) the film is currently available on Tubi.

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (1997)

One of the first Disney direct-to-video sequels. Despite that fact, this film is a competently made production with wonderful music and voice acting. The film is a midquel, taking place just after Beats saved Belle in the first film and before their iconic dance. Belle wants to try and bring Christmas to the castle, but Beast forbids it as that was the day he was turned into a monster. Meanwhile, an evil pipe organ names Forte, played by the talented Tim Curry, wants to remain an inanimate object as he finds himself to be more powerful. He tries to use the holiday to split Belle and Beats apart. In the end Belle succeeds in changing Beast’s mind and Christmas returns. You also have the highly talented Bernadette Peters as a Christmas Angel Tree Topper. Highly recommended for any fan of the 1991 classic. The film is currently on Disney Plus.

Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year (2002)

A wonderful little film that not only celebrates Christmas, but also the New Year. Pooh and friends celebrate Christmas as Pooh’s house and Rabbit retells the 1991 Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too in flashback form. So you get this classic special as a bonus story. After Christmas Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore all get on Rabbit’s nerves and he says that he is moving away. The four friends vow a New Year’s Resolution to change in order to make Rabbit stay. They all end up switching personalities, which makes Rabbit even more upset. When Rabbit leaves he gets stuck up in a tree. The four friends revert back to their old selves and save Rabbit. Rabbit realizes he was wrong to get angry at his friends. In the end everyone celebrates at a New Year’s party at Rabbit’s. It’s a fun film for all Pooh fans young and old. The film is currently on Disney Plus.

Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse (2001)

A direct-to-video tie-in with the Disney cartoon The House of Mouse. When Mickey and friends host a show at the club a snow storm blows through and traps everyone inside. Mickey and Friends then decide to have all the guests stay until the snow clears. Throughout this special we also see classic Christmas shorts. From 1952’s Pluto’s Christmas Tree, 1999’s The Nutcracker and even 1983’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol. This film doubles not only as a House of Mouse Christmas Special, but also a showcase of classic Mickey Mouse Christmas shorts. It’s a great way to watch these classic shorts all connected with a narrative. The film is currently only available on DVD/VHS. So if you want to see this classic you’ll have to check eBay.

I hope you all consider watching these wonderful Hidden Gems this Holiday Season. They’re great to watch with the whole family while drinking hot coco and eating gingerbread cookies. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
