Wizarding World fans throughout the world have been wondered about the details of the cliffhanger that Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald left them with. Rumors have been plenty with this film . Delays have been common with this third installment of this originally planned five-part series of movies with Newt Scamander as a key player. The public drama regarding Johnny Depp appears to have led to his services no longer being needed for this film franchise. In his place, Mads Mikkelsen was cast to be the antagonist, Grindelwald.
Apparently, the screenplay was edited heavily after the lower box office performance of The Crimes of Grindelwald. Some well-connected people in Warner Bros were implying that this third movie might be the last of the franchise. Based on the title and casting, that seems highly unlikely, but we will learn more in days to come.
Yet, there was relief among Wizarding World fans recently when an official announcement of the title of the third movie was given. Warner Bros. announced that Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will reach theaters on Friday, April 15, 2022.
If you know anything about the fabulous literary character than J.K. Rowling created, then you know Dumbledore has secrets! Using a line from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his secrets even have secrets! In this next installment, it will be interesting to see what secrets we learn. Will we learn about the Dumbledore family tree? Will we see narrative of the relationship of Dumbledore and Grindelwald as younger men? Will we learn about more “safe houses” that Dumbledore controls? Will we learn why Dumbledore is so secretive to start with? The questions about his secrets are infinite.
Eddie Redmayne will be repeating his role as Newt Scamander, alongside Jude Law as the young Albus Dumbledore. Katherine Waterston will be back as Tina Goldstein, alongside Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence, Jessica Williams as Professor Eulalie Hicks, and Callum Turner as Theseus. Of course, the Mikkelsen casting will be the interesting variable for this film’s success.
Warner Bros. moving this movie to an Easter weekend release is interesting since it was supposed to release in summer 2022. Wizarding World fans will need to wait until to see what happens with Grindelwald guiding Credence or Corvus or Aurelius, whatever his name turns out to be. Potter fans know how this story ends but learning how it happened could make this film a success.
