Saturday and Sunday the Disney groups were abuzz with talk of an incident at EPCOT that involved the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.  Now it appears we have the answer and it’s truly a devastating one.

It seems that there was a medical emergency and sadly a guest has passed away at EPCOT in the Walt Disney World Resort.

**update**

We have the information on the victim. He was 66 year old Robert Ostrem, from N.Y state. The medical examiner’s office has stated that they believe the cause of death has stemmed from a heart condition.

Saturday, March 20th at around 8:30 PM, first-responders were activated for a medical report at EPCOT near Spaceship Earth. Other guests had reported that it was in another location, but the Orlando Sentinel clarified it was near the park icon.

The guest was taken to AdventHealth Celebration Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

According to the Orlando Sentinel the sheriff’s office suspect no foul play. We also do not yet have any more confirmed information about the guest who passed away.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Ostrem and those who did all they could to save him.
