Epcot Closing Electric Umbrella and Pin Central February 16th and ‘Agent P Adventure’ on February 17th.

Epcot is shutting down a lot of things starting tomorrow.

We knew that The Electric Umbrella was going to shut down at some point, but this was faster than we expected.

Starting on February 16th Pin Central and The Electric Umbrella will be shutting down, as will any of the nearby outdoor carts.

Now guests will need to take passageways on either side of Spaceship Earth to enter either side of Future World. So the entire center area will be closed off. You can see this in the map below.

There is a new pathway added to go to Future World East that will go in front of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind area. We noticed they had pushed those walls back and there is another entrance to MouseGear back that way as well.

Besides that change, the Agent P. World Showcase Adventure will also close a day later on February 17th.

This is slated to be replaced by the upcoming Duck Tales World Showcase Adventure activities that will be available through the Play Disney Parks App.

No word yet on when the new game will start.

Here’s the Disney Parks Blog official write up about the new adventure:

“Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure invites guests to join Scrooge McDuck, Donald, nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, Launchpad and Webby in search of priceless treasure. Using the Play Disney Parks mobile app, guests take a trip around World Showcase discovering exotic destinations, exciting mysteries, and maybe even a few thieves, villains and supernatural guardians of ancient artifacts. This will be the next iteration of a popular interactive scavenger hunt around World Showcase guests have enjoyed for years as they experience the magic of possibility at Epcot.

If we thought there were walls in Epcot before, it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Here’s a look at some of the current walls:

Thankfully the Flower and Garden Festival is mostly in the World Showcase area. I am interested to see how they move the topiaries around this year, and see where the ones that normally are in the closed off areas get placed.
