Enchanted Rose Dessert at Catalina Eddie’s in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

As you make your way down Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you pass several average counter service food places. None of these places offer remarkable food. In a theme park with improved counter service choices, these options remain average.

One of these options comes by the name of Catalina Eddie’s. The menu board for this place defines boring Disney theme park food. Currently, the only counter service meals offered here are the Disney version of puffy pizza or a theme park salad. Yet, I got a report from a writing colleague that a new item appeared on Catalina Eddie’s menu board.

Within the last few weeks, Walt Disney World has added several new sugary treats. Usually these appear for a while and when that short period is over then they disappear again. Usually, guests see a temporary display showing the new short-term treat. However, the “Enchanted Rose” dessert appears on Catalina Eddie’s main menu board. Perhaps, this means this “Beauty and the Beast” themed treat may stay longer than a few months. Still, only time will tell on that issue.

The “Enchanted Rose” costs $5.79. The menu description reads dark chocolate mousse with a taste of blackcurrant and morello cherry-chocolate shortbread cookie, whipped cookies ‘n cream fluff, and gilded chocolate-covered cacao nibs. Wow, that sounds like a huge combination of stuff for such a small dessert.

In recent Disney fashion, the mousse dessert reigns supreme. This mouse packs lots of cherry flavors. Still, this cherry flavor tastes natural. I suggest guests that dislike cherries think long and hard before buying this. We should give the Disney chef’s credit for mousse adding needing texture holding this dessert together.

Also, this treat provides a beautifully large amount of sweetness. Even a cursed beast will struggle to ignore the power of sweetness within this rose. However, other components of this treat balance the sweetness some. The shortbread cookie provides a solid base with a lower level of sweetness than the mousse. The dark chocolate cuts the sugar level a bit also.

Some guests have compared this treat to a chocolate covered cherry. I suggest this taste more like cherry covered chocolate. The balance between cherry and chocolate flavors varied in this treat. The whipped cookies ‘n cream fluff tastes good but gets overwhelmed by other flavors.

These treats are probably too small to share. The rich decadent flavor many guests experienced made this food item very enjoyable to them. Others thought this dessert rated as just average. One’s view of cherry flavor determines one’s enjoyment of the “Enchanted Rose” dessert. If you enjoy cherry flavor, you might want to give this treat a try. As always, eat like you mean it!
