Disney had released a special “Jungle Cruise” Skipper Mickey Ear Hat by Dwayne Johnson and it was once again a terrible shopping experience for many.
Like many of their “exclusive” items the site was immediately bombarded by those trying to get hats because they wanted them and many more “accounts” trying to get hats to mark up significantly on shopping sites like eBay.
Now the $68 hat isn’t running as high as I would expect on eBay, but it’s definitely a huge mark up with prices starting at over $100 more than purchase price.
The ones that sold seem to to around $80 more than purchase price.
As some have pointed out, Disney has been shutting down most of their physical locations and trying to push people to the online ShopDisney.com.
Of course this has led to many unhappy customers.
@shopDisney I am so tired of this company releasing merchandise that is not obtainable to anyone but bots. I waited in the waiting room for over 20mins to just see that the item is sold out. But then I go to eBay and what do you know there is the item listed tripe price.

@shopDisney this is why you shouldn’t close down the physical stores. Your website sucks and is flooded by bots who turn around and sell your products on eBay. Closing down the Disney Store means more favor to scalpers and your REAL fans are left in the dust! pic.twitter.com/OUXGf2TmEA

I have $90 of other other stuff in my online basket…that I am tempted to just not buy now @ShopDisney as you would rather sell stuff to a scalper.

There has to be a better way @shopDisney and it starts with just fulfilling demand, even if it was a back order/pre-order situation.
Stop releasing the coolest merch as LE/LR to fuel this fire.#JungleCruise #SkipperEarHat pic.twitter.com/NGw10awdJ5

This isn’t the only fiasco today, there was also an Alice in Wonderland doll that ended up the same situation. I’m going to cover that in another article.
