Disney’s Abu Dhabi Theme Park Will Be Indoors?

Disney recently dazzled investors and fans with images of their new theme park in partnership with Miral Group in Abu Dhabi. Disney Imagineers will develop the park, but Miral will own, finance, and operate the new location.

With the announcement, fans got a look at the stunning new castle as well as concept art featuring a sprawling park near the water. However, this might not be the reality when the new theme park is finished.

Josh D’Amaro initially said the new park will utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces.

“We’re being incredibly ambitious in terms of architecture, use of indoor and outdoor space. One of the great things about the piece of land that we’ll be building on is it’s right up against the water and so we’ll be pulling water into this resort.”

According to a LinkedIn video from Dubai Eye 103.8, Miral Group CEO Mohamed Aballa Al Zaabi told his interviewer that the new park will be located indoors.

“As you know, we have done all of our theme parks indoor, so Disney will be an indoor theme park.”

Given the climate, an enclosed space does make much more sense for guests and attractions. It’s normal for temperatures to be over 100 degrees.

It is currently unclear if the plans have changed since the announcement or if one of the individuals misspoke.
