Disney World Rules Now Tell Guests To Keep Masks on For Photos and No Eating or Drinking in Line

Walt Disney World is again adding to it’s mask policy. Previously we did see that there were signs going up reminding people to keep their masks on or they will be asked to leave. Now signs are up telling people to keep masks on for selfies and the park announcements have been changed to indicate that eating and drinking in the queue lines is not allowed.

Masked Selfies

Recently there’s been a lot of controversy over removing your mask for photos, even if stationary, at the Walt Disney World Resort. I’m on several Disney discussion boards and it’s come up a few times where people showed their maskless photos and were immediately told they weren’t supposed to do that. Of course that was almost always met with the mob going after the “Karen” who pointed out that it’s against the rules. I even saw them go after Cast Members who commented and told the poster that they weren’t supposed to do that.

Recently we also had the Country Music singer and his family called out all over the internet for not wearing their masks for a photo. Disney finally had to do something.

Disney has clarified the policy and changed the signage to reflect that masks must be worn for photos.

Face coverings must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times including when taking photographs.

Eating and Drinking in Line

The next casualty of mask rules is now eating and drinking in line. We’ve all seen the photos and videos of people taking off their masks in the queue to eat or drink something. People are supposed to be six feet apart, but we can attest that they don’t always follow those rules and will literally get right up on you. So I can understand the concern when people just pull off their masks and start eating and drinking right by you too.

Now Disney has changed their park wide announcement to address the issue:

According to Kenny the Pirate it now says:

“EATING AND DRINKING ARE NOT PERMITTED WHILE IN LINE. FACE COVERINGS MUST FULLY COVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH AND BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN LINE AND ON THE ATTRACTION. GUESTS THAT DO NOT COMPLY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. PLEASE ABIDE BY THE QUEUE MARKINGS AND MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCING AND USE THE HAND SANITIZER DISPENSERS PROVIDED. THANK YOU.”

It seems like Disney is trying to get guests to pay attention to the 6-foot distancing rule as well. Last time we were there people weren’t paying attention and they were moving far past the markings. One family kept letting their child run up and practically be on top of my husband. When he turned to look at the parents they loudly told their child to come back because “That man looks grumpy.”  Well maybe watch your kids, like a lot of other parents do at the parks.

Keep these new changes in mind when you are visiting. Pay attention to your surroundings and try to follow the rules so you don’t accidentally forget and end up removed from the park.

What do you think? Comment and let us know.
