Disney World Reportedly Terminates Polynesian Resort Entertainers

The brutal Disney layoffs continue. First Disney announced that 28,000 employees would be let go due to the sharp decline in revenue as a result of the COVID-19. Then we reported that Yehaa Bob Jackson has been let go after 23 years.

Now there’s even more bad news. Entertainers from Disney’s Polynesian Resort have also been let go. The news comes from Tikiman’s Unofficial Polynesian Resort Page.

I had to reuse this graphic made by Joshua L Harris today after many of the Cast Members were told they won't be back, including the entertainers at the resort.

While not specified, WDW News Today speculates that The Spirit of Aloha has likely been cut.

It’s unknown exactly how many performers were affected, but at this time, it’s unlikely that the “Spirit of Aloha” show will return. Nightly entertainment at ‘Ohana and throughout the resort grounds remains suspended, and now it seems those performers have not had their contracts renewed.

While it’s understandable that Disney needs to make cuts to stay solvent during these unprecedented times, it’s clear that much of the live entertainment that gives Disney that extra “magic” may be a thing of the past.
