Disney World Quick Service Restaurants to Reopen This Summer

The following article is reporting in part on future actions of The Walt Disney Company. Portions pertaining to future actions of the company should be considered rumor given that decisions and actions can change between now and implementation.

As recently as two weeks ago, positions for cooks and servers at various locations around Epcot’s World Showcase were offering $1,000 bonuses. As the pandemic fully comes to an end in Florida (presumably), Disney World and their vendors are in a flurry of activity attempting to fill positions. Now, we’re hearing that Disney is working hard to bring in enough cast members to staff new reopenings of beloved Quick Service restaurants long-closed due to low capacities.

$1,000 Bonuses Being Offered for Food Service Workers

As capacity is being increased over the past and coming weeks at Walt Disney World (we believe to 70%), one of the necessary changes is opening restaurants. With many of the extra benefits for out-of-work pay ending in Florida, the $14.00 per hour starting pay for Quick Service cast members may be enticing. It’s certainly more than most other “fast food” jobs will pay outside the resort at places like McDonald’s or Wendy’s (not that we’re being condescending to anyone who works for those corporations).

If taking a Quick Service position is something you’d be interested in, Disney has provided the following link for potential hires:

Now as for the restaurants that Disney is reportedly preparing to reopen later this summer, here’s the latest list we have from various sources around the parks (these are subject to change):

Magic Kingdom
Casey’s Corner
Columbia Harbour House

Tangierene Cafe (currently under refurbishment, may not open until fall or later)

Hollywood Studios
Catalina Eddie’s

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

These additions are coming on the heels of Disney announcing reopenings for former buffet options (now family style dining). We covered Chef Mickey’s, Cape May Café, and Tusker House coming back online. You can read about their menu alterations here, which we believe are likely to be temporary (except at Tusker House, which may actually stay Family Style).

Once Disney makes official announcements about restaurants like Columbia Harbour House, you can bet we’ll cover them here at Pirates and Princesses. In the meantime, we recommend the following options at each of the four parks if you’re needing a quick fix for the munchies:

Magic Kingdom – Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café
Epcot – Regal Eagle Smokehouse
Hollywood Studios – Backlot Express
Animal Kingdom – Flametree Barbecue or Satu’li Canteen

Are there any other restaurants you’re hoping to see reopen soon at Walt Disney World Resort? Just can’t wait to get your reservation in for Boma at Animal Kingdom when it comes back online? Let us know in the comments below!
