UPDATE 2/7/2022 11:10 a.m. EST: Disney Cast Members have reached out to WDW News Today to clarify that contract negotiations were technically not “firings.” The original article appears below.
Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is reportedly facing yet another setback.
Bad press from the mainstream media, mass cancellations, and less-than-stellar initial reactions were just the tip of the iceberg.
Now it’s being reported that staffing issues are causing even more trouble for the widely panned $6,000 luxury “LARPing” experience.
According to WDW News Today, Disney is having difficulty hiring experienced waitstaff due to concerns over wages. And now they were allegedly forced to fire and rehire Cast Members due to contract issues.
Sources tell us that initial contract negotiations for the entertainment Cast Members were never completed. Due to the inability to reach agreements by the deadline, Disney was forced to fire all entertainment Cast Members for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at one point, then rehire them, and train them all over again. This led to some delays and cancellations in preview cruises.
I sense a disturbance in the Force… and an upcoming episode of Defunctland in the making.
Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel opens to the public on March 1, 2022. May the Force be with them… they’re going to need it.
