Disney+ Releases Sneak Peek at Upcoming ‘Marvel 616’ Documentary Series

Disney+ has just released two clips with sneak peeks at their upcoming ‘Marvel 616’ Docuseries coming “soon.”

The first clip is from their episode called “Higher, Further, Faster!”

Here’s the synopsis of the episode:

Higher, further, faster! Take off with this sneak peek at Marvel’s 616, which shines a light on the trailblazing women of Marvel Comics and explores how they found ways to tell stories of representation and inclusion. Helmed by actor and director Gillian Jacobs (Community, Love), the episode takes audiences through Marvel’s storied history by introducing them to women from the House of Ideas’ past and present who have helped build the Marvel Universe one story and character at a time. #Marvel616 is streaming soon on #DisneyPlus.

This is interesting because the perpetuating narrative has been that the big two (Marvel and DC) have kept women out for years. Now it’s taking a look at how women from the past influenced Marvel? I will be interested to see those women from the past finally get acknowledged by the creators and fans of today.

Another episode we got a sneak peek for was “Lost and Found”

Here’s the synopsis for this episode:

Actor and comedian Paul Scheer (Black Monday, The League) is on the hunt to discover the “forgotten” characters of Marvel Comics. Speaking to an array of experts and fans, this episode takes an untraditional and humorous approach to introduce audiences to a collection of obscure, wild, and sometimes bizarre cast of characters. Along his journey, Paul will discover what makes a great Marvel character and uncover an unlikely force to be reckoned with. #Marvel616 is streaming soon on #DisneyPlus.

This episode actually does seem intriguing. I would love to learn more about the “forgotten” characters of Marvel Comics. There have been some very interesting characters over the years and I think this episode would be a lot of fun.

Again, we don’t know when this is premiering, just “streaming soon.”

There will be a virtual panel at Comic-Con@Home tomorrow, Thursday, July 23 at 1PM PST for the upcoming docuseries called “A Look Inside ‘Marvel’s 616‘”

Marvel’s 616 explores how Marvel’s rich legacy of stories, characters and creators exist within the “world outside your window.” Each documentary, helmed by a unique filmmaker, explores the intersections of storytelling, pop culture and fandom within the Marvel Universe. Join directors Gillian Jacobs, Paul Scheer, and executive producers Sarah Amos and Jason Sterman as they discuss the making of this Disney+ original anthology series with moderator Angélique Roché.”
