Disney Releases Disney+ Live Action Pinocchio Teaser Trailer

Today Disney released the teaser trailer for yet another live-action remake film that no one asked for. The upcoming live-action “Pinocchio” will be streaming on Disney+ on September 8 for Disney+ Day.

Honestly it’s a solid choice to go that route because I don’t think people are going to flock to the theater for this one. To their credit they do have some big name actors on it and Robert Zemeckis is directing the film.

What’s funny to me is that the trailer is mostly Tom Hanks as Geppetto with a bit of Jiminy Cricket and other characters, but no real Pinocchio (even though a positive is that the puppet looks just like the animated version.)

Here’s the write-up:

The global celebration of Disney+ Day will return on Thursday, September 8, 2022, leading into D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa in Anaheim, CA. In celebration, the streaming service will host special experiences for fans and subscribers, and will premiere new content from its marquee brands, including the return of the beloved Disney franchise in the all-new live action “Pinocchio” on Disney+ Day, September 8. The teaser trailer and key art for the film, starring Tom Hanks, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Cynthia Erivo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, Lorraine Bracco and Luke Evans, are available now. In addition to “Pinocchio,” Disney+ will announce more Disney+ Day premieres from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic in the coming months.”

In keeping it current year it seems that boys and girls are going to Pleasure Island this time. Not sure how they are going to handle all that part of the story.

Here are some of the comments on the YouTube video:

Hugh C- “If Tom Hanks doesn’t yell “YOU ARE A TOY!!!!” to Pinocchio, I’d be so dissapointed 😂😂

Yanis K- “Tom Hanks is the biggest reason, why I am excited for this movie.

KuyaS- “so happy to see Pinocchio getting his CGI surgery, that must’ve been a difficult decision to make. Fully supporting what he does next ✌

Anthony M – “To be fair, this live action remake looks pretty decent then the previous remakes. I’m actually hyped to see it when it comes out on Disney+! 🙂

Unicus – ” This SHALL be better than the fruity Pinocchio we got lately, especially since it’s from actual Disney, I have high expectations for this movie – bringing back the classics in a different perspective while still being true to it.

Dropy – “FArThUrrr, wHeN cAN I leAVe tO Be on My OOoownnn🙄💅

Yeah that other Pinocchio with Pauly Shore was hitting different but that made it infamous.

We shall see how it goes. It might be amazing, but a lot of people are just over the live-action remakes. At least it’s going directly to Disney+. Got to get those subs up before the end of their fiscal year in September.  If people subscribe to watch and cancel they can still count it as a subscriber for that quarter.
