Disney+ Promo Features Netflix Marvel Shows Except For The Punisher and Iron Fist

Disney has put up a promo for March that showcases movies and shows coming to the streaming platform this month. It focuses heavily on ‘West Side Story’ and Marvel properties. Flashing characters and clips from the Netflix Marvel shows that are set to come to the service on March 16th.

At the end they flash the titles for ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ and ‘Luke Cage’ but fail to promote ‘The Punisher’ or ‘Iron Fist.’  It doesn’t show ‘Agents of Shield’ or ‘The Defenders’ either.

Take a look!

Why would they do this?

It’s likely they skipped ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘The Punisher’ because those are the shows that are deemed “problematic” by social media.

‘The Punisher’ is considered “bad” because the logo has been used by some groups that are also deemed “problematic” and Marvel even revealed a new logo in hopes of distancing themselves. There is a lot of baggage around this character so Disney likely is hiding it from the promo for that reason. Don’t worry, it’s still coming  to service. Disney still wants the subscriptions and views, just not the negative press.

‘Iron Fist’ is a similar situation. Even thought Danny Rand was indeed the character in the comics, modern day social media has taken issue with the idea of a white man being a martial arts master and having the power of the Iron Fist. Clearly, since it’s based on Asian cultures it has to be an Asian person with that power.

They have even made the Iron Fist Asian in the comics.

Remember don’t stereotype, unless social media does it first.

Also, the show just wasn’t that good. A lot of fans just don’t like it that much. Again, like ‘The Punisher’ it will be on Disney+ come March 16th.

To be fair they didn’t’ seem to include ‘The Defenders’ in he promo either. However that show is just the sum of all the parts in regards to the characters each having their own show and coming together for that show.

‘Agents of Shield’ was also not in the promo.

Disney did make sure to put ‘Moon Knight’ in there. I know that’s one audiences are very excited for, so it stands to reason it would be included.

At the end of the day it likely comes down to what fit in the time allotted and what shows they actually wanted to showcase. ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Luke Cage’ were more popular and they didn’t have all the baggage that ‘The Punisher’ and ‘Iron Fist’ seem to have.
