It seems we finally have a release date for the new ‘Haunted Mansion’ film that has been in production for quite awhile. Last summer we were getting casting announcements for the film and then it was a drought on news about it for awhile. It seemed Disney was more focused on it’s Muppets/Haunted Mansion crossover last fall.
Now, according to Super Hero Hype, the movie is set to release next year on March 19, 2023.
So far we do know some of the casting choices including: Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish.
The new film is being directed by Justin Simien with Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich producing. Nick Reynolds is billed as the executive producer.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
“A single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest, and a historian to help exorcise their newly bought mansion after discovering it is inhabited by ghosts.”
At the time this releases it will have been almost 20 years since the last ‘Haunted Mansion’ film with Eddie Murphy.
I’m just hoping it’s better than the ‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’ special they did last year. I hope they can strike a good balance of scary and funny, like the attraction itself.
