The Hollywood Reporter just had some exclusive information on an upcoming project being developed for Disney+ called “Spooked,” directed and rewritten by Peter Foott and produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich. It will be executive produced by Mark Bauch.
According to THR the story will be based on the idea that one Halloween night trick-or-treaters are transformed into whatever their Halloween costume is. Of course this isn’t a new idea and we’ve seen it before with Halloweentown and other movies.
Right now there isn’t much known about the upcoming project other that the basic premise and who the writer/director and producers are.
Prior to Foott being involved the project was written by Tyler Burton Smith, and now Foott is rewriting it.
Tyler Burton Smith wrote the initial script for the project that has now landed at Disney+ and will now be rewritten by Foott. I wonder if this was yet another case of “creative differences” that we keep seeing among Disney+ projects. If Disney wants to save some money they might want to stop redoing scripts and replacing creative teams all the time. Just a suggestion.
Personally, I’m looking forward to their other Halloween project ‘Hocus Pocus 2.’ Of course there’s no word when either of these will be released.
