Disney had just announced that they will be suspending the Disney Intern Programs as of April 18th. The Cultural Representative Program had allowed some of those cast members to stay, but now that the parks are closed “until further notice” and cast members are being furloughed, they are suspending the program.
This was posted on the Disney Internships & Programs Facebook:
According to their statement participants in the Cultural Representative Program will be returning individuals home by April 17th. Disney is working witn them on a “case-by-case basis.” They, like other cast members, will be paid through April 18th but they will get a “lump sum payment” on April 9th.
Disney College Program participants who were supposed to come in early June are being cancelled but their program fees will be refunded.
This further seems to indicate that Disney will not be opening the parks before June, and possibly later, since they cancelled the intern program coming in. Many Insiders are estimating the parks could be closed until July or even August. Even when an “all clear” is issued, it could take Disney and cast members weeks to be ready to re-open and even then, it will likely open with capacity restrictions, and in phases.
