Disney Animator Turns Flynn Rider Into A Giant 2D Octopus

Whenever you are having a bad day you just need something funny to help lift your spirits. Sometimes people go to YouTUbe and watch cute cat videos. Sometimes people go on TikTok and see a number of funny dances. And sometimes you just need to watch a funny animation made by a professional animator. Today something like that has occurred and it is getting a lot of attention.

Disney Animator Adam Green took it upon himself to “update” a sequence that he had originally worked on in Disney’s 2010 animated film Tangled. The sequence was where Rapunzel, Flynn Rider AKA Eugene and Maximus first arrive at the castle. But in this little segment Adam turned Flynn into a 2D animated Octopus.

Adam Green is an animator who began his professional career in 2008 working on films such as Horton Hears a Who from Blue Sky Studios and Bolt from Disney. He also worked as an animator on the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed at Lucas Arts.

He then worked on Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for BlueSky in 2009 before finding his permanent home at Disney. He went on to work 2010’s Tangled and its sequel short Tangled Ever After as well as the second and third Prep & Landing shorts for ABC Family.

Over the years he has worked on films like Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Moana, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Frozen II, Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto. He has also worked on a number of Disney animated shorts such as Paperman, Get a Horse!, Feast, Gone Fishing, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Far from the Tree.

He has even worked on Short Circuit and Olaf Presents for Disney Plus. Just recently he did illustration work for a children’s picture book called What’s Your Poo Poo Face? by Jason Mesnick and Z. P. Phillips.

With this much experience under his belt you’d imagine he’d get the opportunity to direct a feature film by now.

It is very fascinating to see him go back and animate over his past work in a comedic way. As of this writing the tweet has received over 56,000 likes and over 10,000 retweets.

Hopefully he keeps to his promise and replace characters from his past work with more Giant Octopi. Can you imagine seeing Raya talking to Octopus Sisu? That would be hilarious.
