A lot of people were concerned that Disney would not move ahead with a highly anticipated Deadpool 3 film after they bought Fox. Now it appears that Marvel is moving onto the script writing stage for the film and have brought in “Bob’s Burgers” writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to write the script for the third film starring Ryan Reynolds.
According to Deadline the writer meetings have been taking place to chose writers and a direction for the next film:
“Writer meetings have been taking place over the past month with Reynolds recently meeting with a handful of writers to hear their pitches for the next installment. In the end, the studio and Reynolds saw the sisters’ take as the perfect fit for what they wanted. The film remains in early development, but the hiring of the Molyneux sisters does mark the first major step in getting the next Deadpool film into production.”
Deadline also noted that this is the first Deadpool film where Ryan Reynolds, Marvel Studios and Team Deadpool are all working together. Hopefully it stays true to what the other films were. Disney has it now and things could change, but it seems they are trying to all work together to keep it cohesive. Including the “R” rating that many were worried would be dropped since it was Disney. Plus we now know we are likely getting a third film because there was some speculation that Disney might not move forward on it.
It should be interesting and exciting to see how this all comes together. I know one thing for sure, Disney needs to make sure this third film flows with the other two or fans are going to be pissed. (This article is now rated PG)
