Dave Bautista Adopts Abused Puppy and Offers Reward To Find Culprit

Dave Bautista, who you many know as Drax the Destroyer from Guardians of the Galaxy, or the Disney+ ambassador character, The Streamer, has just adopted a sweet puppy that was abused.  The poor dog was chained to a fence and was found eating trash. Her chains had actually embedded into her skin and she required surgery to remove them.

The puppy, who was called Sage at the time, was brought in to  Humane Society Tampa Bay about a week ago.

Happening Now‼️ Sage was just brought to us with a metal chain embedded… hanging from her neck.  We are currently prepping her for surgery to remove the chain.

A Good Samaritan was driving on the way home, and saw Sage eating garbage at “The Home Cemetery”. She stopped and Sage immediately ran up to her. She put Sage in the car and rushed over to HSTB.

Sage is only 3-months-old. She is very sweet and friendly. Even though she is in immense pain Sage was wagging her tail on the exam table while our veterinarian and vet techs were examining her. In addition to the chain, we noticed that Sage has skin issues and overgrown nails. We can’t imagine who would do this to her.

Please send well wishes to Sage as she undergoes her surgery.

Thankfully Shelter Veterinarian, Dr. Redmond was able to get it out and get her on the mend. They said she was doing well in her foster location. The shelter offered $1,500 to find out who did this to a sweet, 3 month old puppy.

When the HSTB posted the story actor Dave Bautista immediately jumped in and offered an additional $5,000 reward to find whoever did this to Sage.

ATTN Tampa Bay: I will personally hand $5000 cash to the person who gives information leading to the arrest and conviction of the sick piece of sh*t responsible for this. In addition @humanesocietytampabay is also offering $1500 .If you know anything please contact

Bautista also did a video announcing that in addition to the $6,500 already offered Alvarez Injury Law offered to match his offer (another $5,000) and actor Mickey Rourke also offered another $1,000.

Unfortunately they haven’t caught the “sick piece of sh*t” yet, but the story has an even happier ending because Bautista personally adopted the dog to make sure she is “never abused again.”

In the same video where Bautista announced the extra reward money, he also announced that Sage the puppy was now Penny Bautista.

This is not the first time Mr. Bautista has adopted abandoned dogs, a couple of years ago he adopted two dogs who had been given up and separated.

I’m so glad this story has a happy ending and I wanted to share.

If you have any information about the person or people who mistreated Penny please contact the Humane Society of Tampa Bay at (813) 876-7138 or you can contact SafeK9 HERE.

He’s right, whoever did this is definitely a “piece of sh*t!”

Also, if you live in Tampa and are looking for a pet please check out the Humane Society of Tampa Bay as they have a lot of animals looking for homes. If you are considering a pet definitely check the shelters in your area. I currently have three shelter cats/rescues and I had two that passed and it’s worth it!
