Another day and another time many fans were proven right about Disney’s sequel trilogy. Yesterday we got low key confirmation from Rian Johnson that there were no overarching story guidelines across the films–which many fans had been calling out for years. Now Daisy Ridley apparently didn’t know anything about Rey being a Palpatine until the “Rise of Skywalker” film.
Fans had been saying that it seemed like they just changed that element in a desperate attempt to win fans back after “The Last Jedi.” The change made it the Palpatine saga more than the Skywalker Saga and didn’t make sense. Rian Johnson killed off the villain and they needed a villain and they needed the fans back so they just put in old Palpy.
According to Sariah Wilson…again, via Tweets. She says she interviewed Daisy Ridley and this is what Wilson says she said:
Just in case people aren’t putting the tweets together, she said for the first two movies she was told that Rey was no one.

Daisy Ridley was under the impression that Rey was a no one and says she was “literally told” the character was a no one.
Now some will argue that was to keep it a secret, but I’m not buying it. There were no pieces to even hint at that coming. Snoke was the villain. Rian Johnson, who argues that he left it wide open for Episode 9, made sure to kill him off with no answers at all.
Many fans have been saying that it felt like Lucasfilm just threw in Palpatine to try and throw them a bone after what Johnson did to Luke Skywalker in “The Last Jedi.” It seems they were right. Just like how many fans have said that the three movies felt like they weren’t planned together, and that also appears to be confirmed.
Thanks to Sariah Wilson on Twitter, fans might have gotten the confirmation that they weren’t off the mark like the media and Lucasfilm kept telling them.
Again, why is the media trying so hard to push the sequel trilogy when the future of successful “Star Wars” seems to be in the form of Disney+ shows like “The Mandalorian?”
“Let the past die. Kill it if you have to.”
