We are finally getting the quick service replacement for the Electric Umbrella next week at EPCOT. The Connections Café & Eatery will officially open on April 27th and will feature food “inspired by delicious cuisines from around the world.”
The Connections Café and Eatery will offer lunch and dinner menus (eatery) and a cafe and pastry shop on the other side (Starbucks new location.)
Here’s a look:
There is an amazing mural called “Global Gathering”
The mural is being touted as one of the largest murals Imagineering has ever created. It wraps around the wall, so it is indeed quite large.
Here you can watch the chefs prepare the food with three kitchens.
One aspect I do enjoy is the display case featuring how different countries brew their beverages.
One detail, that is very fun and a nod to the original plans for Walt Disney’s “Florida Project,” is located in the flooring.
There are three original floor inlays inspired by Walt’s 1966 “Florida Project” site plans, where EPCOT was to serve as the literal and conceptual “center” of Walt Disney World. Thoughtful details like these really bring this location to life by honoring the original dream of EPCOT and the magic of possibility. The park’s original DNA is woven throughout Connections Café and Eatery, the latest example of how this EPCOT transformation honors our past while moving us forward into the future.”
This restaurant location has been a long time coming as the Electric Umbrella closed back in 2020!
