Bruce Willis, star of the Die Hard movies, is taking a step back from his career to deal with the medical condition, Aphasia. His family, via Instagram, shared that the condition is affecting his cognitive abilities thus putting his career on hold.

On her verified Instagram account, Rumer Willis, Bruce’s daughter with Demi Moore, shared the hard news with the world:

The Mayo Clinic describes Aphasia as “… a condition that robs you of the ability to communicate. It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written.” They go on to say that it can be caused from a stroke, major head injury, disease, or slow-growing brain tumor. No information has been released as to the cause for Bruce Willis.

The Mayo Clinic adds that the treatment for Aphasia is speech and language therapy where the affected person relearns how to communicate or how to communicate differently.

Rumer Willis stated in her Instagram post that, “as Bruce always says ‘Live it Up’ and together we plan to do just that.” Bruce has the support of his family, children, and even ex wife, Demi Moore. Rumer Willis added stating that they will be moving through this as a “strong family unit.”

The 67 year old actor is best known for his stint in the Die Hard movies. The Die Hard movies have gone on to become cult classics. Willis got his acting break on the ABC comedy-drama television series Moonlighting alongside Cybill Shepherd airing from 1985-1989.

We wish Bruce Willis and his family our best in this journey. It seems that they are truly working as a family unit to assist Bruce with this new medical diagnosis.
