It appears that passenger train company, Brightline, and Walt Disney World have reached an agreement to build a train station at Disney Springs. Now Brightline is working on getting the necessary government approvals.

The proposed new station would be two levels with passenger facilities and lobby on the ground floor and the train platform on the upper floor.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Brightline President, Patrick Goddard said the following:

“Brightline will offer a car-free connection to the millions of visitors from around the state and the world who plan to make Walt Disney World Resort part of their vacation plans. Our mission has always been to connect our guests to the people and places that matter, and Walt Disney World Resort is a tremendous example of this.

Brightline has been working on a line from South Florida to the Orlando International Airport’s Terminal C. That project is costing $2.7 billion and it will be opening in 2022. They are also working on a plan to put an extension in for Tampa, which is where the Disney Springs Station would come into play. The line would connect the Sunrail to Disney Springs.

Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle also added a statement for the Orlando Sentinel:

“We’re excited to work with Brightline as they pursue the potential development of a train station at Walt Disney World Resort, a project that would support our local economy and offer a bold, forward-looking transportation solution for our community and guests.

The railway to Disney Springs would be a fantastic new way for people to travel to the shopping area and Walt Disney World Resort. I’m sure it will help boost shoppers coming to the Disney Springs area as well. Now it seems that it’s one hurdle closer to making the station a reality!
