At the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Walt Disney World one of the boats at the offloading bay went off the track. Instagram user “samsdisneydiary” was able to get a photo of the incident when workers struggled to get the boat back into position and prevent a possible accident.
Thankfully nobody was hurt as the boat itself was empty of passengers. The ride was halted with emergency lights turned on. Apparently the boat lifted too far to one side and slid off the track getting stuck. The staff then had to painstakingly use poles to maneuver the out of place boat into a position where they could more easily get it back on and set sail once more.
Popular rides like Pirates of the Caribbean aren’t strangers to ride malfunctions. The Haunted Mansion is well known for slowing and stopping due to its constant rotating vehicle design, and recently a number of boats at The Jungle Cruise were having sinking problems, one of these malfunctioning boats apparently was incorporated into the decorations of the ride in a recent renovation.
New Jungle Cruise Prop Supposedly recycled from Damaged Boat
Don’t be concerned however, Disney usually takes special care to ensure guest safety and accidents like these don’t often occur so rest assured your visit will most likely not encounter freak accidents like this.
