We covered the first series of McFarlane’s figures during the Summer based on the Disney mobile game. The initial wave gave us kickass Belle, along with Buzz, Sulley, Captain Jack, and Mickey.
We spotted Wave 2 at Figures.com, and McFarlane Toys is already re-releasing figures with slightly different paint jobs. This second series is a mix of rehashes and some welcome additions for Disney fans. Depending on their size, the figures will be priced between $12.99 to $39.99.
Mickey and Sulley resurface, but this time in 12″ form rather than 6″. It is unclear if these larger figures have the same articulation as their smaller counterparts. Sulley is shiny here, too, rather than having a matte paint job to match his on-screen fur. Unfortunately, the available information doesn’t point to any additional features.
Sulley shows up again, this time in the 6″ line. This is the exact figure as before but now with the “Fractured” paint scheme. It’s still weird that they’re doing this so early on in the toylines life rather than putting out new characters. Joining him for a retread is Captain Jack Sparrow, also in “Fractured” form.
At least out of the seven newly announced toys, we get three brand new characters. Donald isn’t all that surprising, but the Genie and Baloo are. I like the updated look they gave Robin Williams’s Genie. This is how he should have looked in the live-action version instead of Blue Man Group Will Smith.
This Baloo is sporting a variation of his TailSpin outfit with what looks like a mechanical arm and a sword. Unfortunately, Baloo does not get enough love these days when it comes to merchandise. I’ll pick this one up for sure, along with the Genie.
Have you played the mobile game these figures are based on? What do you think about it? Which characters should McFarlane Toys tackle next? Let us know in the comments section below.
