If you have been following along with the media circus that has been the Johnny Depp / Amber Heard court case, then you know that the media and general public are starting to side more and more with Depp. Meanwhile Amber Heard hasn’t even taken the stand yet and she has already fired her PR Crisis team and now her legal team has just tried to get the case dismissed.

According to Deadline’s source, this is standard in civil cases:

“Under the statutes of the Old Dominion, lawyers for the defense in civil cases essentially are “required,” as one legal source told us, to enter a motion to strike once the plaintiff has wrapped up their case and witnesses.

As expected judge Penny Azcarate denied that motion saying there was sufficient evidence presented by Depp’s legal team to continue.

Heard’s legal defense was trying to argue that since Depp was not named in the op ed article there wasn’t enough connection to her claims.  But as others have pointed out, and given the swift backlash in Hollywood, it’s been made fairly clear who she was referring to.

The judge said that “if there is a scintilla of evidence that a reasonable juror could weigh, then the matter survives a motion to strike.

Now the case will continue as planned.

What do you think? Comment and let us know!
