When the pandemic closed down Walt Disney World in March of 2020 some locations didn’t return. Akershus in the Norway section of EPCOT’s World Showcase was one such casualty. At first it was used as a mask removal station and then it was turned into an Florida Blue Corporate Lounge, much to the dismay of many.

Now, we might see a glimmer of hope regarding it’s return as the Akershus sign has indeed returned to the outside of the building.

If you are unfamiliar with what Akershus was, it was a Disney Princess dining experience hosted by Belle. The less expensive alternative to Cinderella’s Royal Table. Personally we liked it better than CRT.  The food had some traditional favorites, but it also offered Norwegian inspired dishes as well.

The one great perk of Akershus was that you could gain access to the World Showcase ahead of opening. If you grabbed the right breakfast reservation you could finish up and get right into line for “Frozen Ever After.”

Hopefully this is a sign that the restaurant is indeed returning as it does say “Princess Storybook Dining” underneath it looks like we will be getting the dining experience back as well. It’s good news indeed, but my money is on the restaurant going to higher prices and becoming more of signature experience that costs a lot more, given the demand of the Frozen attraction, and Disney wanting to squeeze more money out of guests.
