$8 Giant Pretzel at Jock Lindsey’s Disney Springs

If you are looking for a dining deal at Disney Springs, you could be looking for a significant amount of time. Yes, there exists a solid $10 burger during lunch time. Another option around lunch time involves the “Happy Hour Appetizers” at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.

At Jock Lindsey’s, you can get empanadas or a queso dip for a lower price during “happy hours.”. The featured other option for this review is a giant pretzel. During happy hours, this “Air Pirate’s Pretzel” costs $8. The menu description declares it a giant pretzel with spicy German mustard and beer-cheese fondue.

At Jock Lindsey’s, happy hours are noon until 3pm. In addition to the limited discounted food, there are drink specials also during the noon to 3pm time.

Before discussing the quality of this pretzel, I need to make a few clarifications. This $8 pretzel resembles in no way the $22 Air Pirate’s Loaded Cargo Pretzel which features prosciutto, sliced Brats, artisan pepperoni, smoked cheddar, and black diamond cheddar. This review focuses on value not a pretzel turned into a charcuterie board.

Also, on the day I visited Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, the wait was over 20 minutes for a table at 2pm on a weekday. They seemed to be understaffed that day also. Still, the covered outdoor seating area makes a great relaxing place to dine.  Also, on the day I visited, guests were feeding birds on the patio which my server Amy discouraged. However, more about that issue and my pretzel later.

So how was the pretzel? As the name says, giant works as a fair description. The portion size for an $8 appetizer exceeded normal standards. In terms of value, this giant pretzel rates high since cost is like the cost of beloved in-park Mickey pretzel. This beer cheese ranks as average for bar food.

However, the mustard tasted great with this pretzel. The pretzel baking process creates a nice crust on the exterior. The interior remains reasonably soft though. This pretzel comes with various seeds on exterior for texture and taste purposes. These seeds work well for those purposes. However, with birds swooping in for a snack, this characteristic creates limited peril. The seeds make a large mess no matter how you eat this pretzel. You will notice this if a bird lands on your table (sorry no photo of that).

In general, this pretzel offers good value and flavor. In comparison to the giant pretzel over at NBC Sports Grill and Brew at Universal Orlando CityWalk, this one will finish second.

However, if looking for a solid cost-effective food item while enjoying Disney Springs, this pretzel works very well. If looking for more unique dining, this “happy hour” item will not satisfy. Your enjoyment of this pretzel comes down to your dining intentions. You will need to make that final decision. Still, for $8 on Walt Disney World property, this pretzel demands attention during happy hour.

As always, eat like you mean it!
