You If you are a theme park fan, then you probably know it is now the 50th anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World. Now, this celebration goes on for 18 months total. Walt Disney World has unleashed over 150 menu items for this commemoration. As you might expect, they are not all winners.
Here are a few we would suggest avoiding since there are far better options at Walt Disney World right now.
This list will focus on Magic Kingdom only though.
WENDELL’S BEAR CLAW
You can find this at Westward Ho in Frontierland. In fairness, this is not a bad treat. It is just not a good one. This item tastes like a standard bear claw pastry item dipped in chocolate and topped with some hazelnuts.
The biggest issue with this treat is that it tends be dry. The flavors are okay. Even for the $5.49 price point, you can easily find better treats in Magic Kingdom.
EARIDESCENT NUGGET CHURROS
These nuggets are found at Pecos Bill Tall Tale inn and Café. The idea of churros nuggets sounds great in principle. The supposedly “EARidescent” sugar does not help this treat.
The main problem with these churro nuggets is a lack of freshness. This is Walt Disney World. You can find better churros. However, the nuggets are cute but that is best aspect for this $5.89 treat.
Captain Nemo Octopus
This can be found at Be Our Guest. This unique dish is a seaweed salad with cucumber, pickled beets, hearts of palm, tapioca crackers, beets mousse, and carrot-ginger silk. Also, as the name states, it comes with octopus.
You can get this an appetizer with the Prix Fixe menu. Sadly, the octopus with this dish lacks quality flavor so be prepared. The presentation of this dish looks like a colorful charcuterie plate. If you are a picky eater or do not really like seafood, then avoid this unique themed appetizer.
Burger to the Moon
The space themed burger resides at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. As a very part-time food blogger, this place is an easy punching bag for low quality of food. Now, there are reasons to dine at Cosmic Ray’s but this 50th anniversary menu item is not one of them.
This burger costs $11.49. The idea is good, but the execution is not.
The item is an Impossible burger with guacamole, tomato, and cabbage slaw and it comes with fries. The main issue with this burger is lack of flavor. The bun is below average. The guacamole was also below average at best. Even the burger patty and slaw were lacking in taste. As you can see, this is not a great choice since there are far better vegan/vegetarian options at Magic Kingdom.
May you enjoy your food at Magic Kingdom. These will probably not be good choices if you want a valuable theme park dining experience.
